I don't think any entertainer could top Michael Jackson. I feel he is cool no matter what he does. I wish I could have seen him live. I am saddened by his untimely death.
I hate horror movies. I basically can't handle anything scary. However, there is only one horror movie in my life that I have seen. It is IT2. My friend forced me to watch it. And this movie had both horror and crazy elements in it, which made me feel like I was going to go even crazier. It was scary.
My favorite comedy movie is Home Alone. This movie is about an 8 year old boy who is left behind by his family during Christmas vacation and uses his ideas to fight to save his home from a pair of robbers. This was the first comedy movie I ever saw in my life. I saw it for the first time in early elementary school and watched the recorded version over and over.
My favorite sports movie is Chariots of Fire. This movie is based on a true story that happened at the 1924 Paris Olympics. It tells the story of Harold, a Jewish man devoted to athletics, and Eric, the son of a missionary, who overcomes discrimination and prejudice to win the Olympics. I think it is a movie that should be seen by Japanese people because they are not familiar with religious and racial differences.
My favorite romance movie is Titanic. Since the movie is based on a true story, you can enjoy it more if you research and understand the Titanic before watching it. The length of the movie is a bit long (3 hours), but I was so absorbed in it that I didn't notice it at all.
My favorite musical movie is Sing 2. This movie just gives me energy and courage, and I feel that it teaches us the importance of action in order to achieve success. The recommended point is the song dubbed in Japanese. Only Japan has Japanese version of songs in the world. I enjoyed it in both Japanese and English.
My favorite film is SHOAH. It is a documentary film that tells the full story of the Jewish concentration camps and the Holocaust by Nazi Germany during World War II, told by the people involved, and compiled into a collection of interviews that runs about 9.5 hours in total. It is quite long and heavy in content, so I cannot recommend it to everyone, but I felt it would be a good idea to see it once while you are a student with time and spare time. The horror that you get from just telling the story through interviews without incorporating any reenactments or visual materials from the time is fascinating.
My favorite Animation movie is ZOOTOPIA. I felt that this film was a mimicry of American society itself. As an American culture major, I enjoyed watching this film and learned a lot by thinking "Oh, this is a metaphor for that case" or "This race is talking about this race and this race". The film is comical and pop at first glance, but it is very deep in its detailed depiction of the sensitive themes of other ethnic nations. Even words said without offense can be taken seriously by the other person, and I wanted to live with the feelings of the other person.
